About the Day of Action

The day of action will target companies involved in the North Wales Prison Project, including local suppliers and multinational companies building the prison.

There will also be stalls at the local prisons as part of the Smash IPP Campaign – aiming to make connections with families and friends supporting IPP prisoners.

About the North Wales Prison Project

The state are currently building Europe’s second biggest prison in Wrexham, North Wales. The prison will hold more than 2100 people and cost £250 million to build. Australian contractor Lend Lease was awarded the contract to build the Wrexham titan prison by the Government in May 2014 but only achieved planning permission last November. Our aims are to resist it, slow it down and send a message to the state and prison industry that it is not acceptable to profit from caging human beings.

Like all prisons, it will imprison poor, working class people, individuals with mental health challenges & learning disabilities, abuse survivors as well as people of colour and immigrants. A large number of people from North Wales will most likely fill its walls.
